Following on from last season’s very popular Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo, a particular highlight for children and their adults in 2017 will be Erth’s Perhistoric Aquarium at TRECC. This widely acclaimed show takes audiences into a new dimension of theatre, enabling families to connect with the real science of palaeontology and dive into the historical depths of the ocean to unlock some of nature’s greatest mysteries.
Tamworth Musical Society will have a larger season in 2017 with the society presenting three productions, Rock of Ages in May, Pinafore & So Much More! A G & S Revival in July and the ever-popular Annie will be the perfect way to enjoy the magic of live theatre with all the family in October/November. Tamworth Dramatic Society will also bring three shows next year, one written by local playwright Peter Langston, Geoffrey (March/April) alslo a fund raiser for Black Dog Institute, Rumors (August), a comedy by Neil Simon and I Am My Own Wife (November), a play based on a true story by Doug Wright that tells the fascinating real-life tale of survival of both the Nazi onslaught and the repressive East German communist regime.
Lovers of dance will be mesmerised by Sydney Dance Company’s Frame of Mind and The Melbourne City Ballet with their production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. And there’s certainly no shortage of laughs, with Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase and Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow both making their way to Tamworth for two hilarious 15+ shows.
The 2340 Big Band, formed in 2014, brings Swing Session with the 2340 Big Band in September with special guest George Washingmachine. Due to the overwhelming popularity and sold out performance last season, the band has announced two shows this year on the weekend of 9 and 10 September which will include guest artists: Kate Armstrong, Brad Gill, Lara Northey, Sally-Anne Whitten and Tamworth City Dance Academy.
Ross, said, “I'm thrilled with the diverse line up of shows. Season 2017 is all about feeling at home in Tamworth’s biggest ‘living’ room, while you are taken into the wonderful world of live theatre – it makes us feel, think, reflect and ultimately connect and communicate. We are so lucky to have these wonderful venues in the Tamworth region. Embrace them and be proud.”

Santa, the big man himself, will also be making an appearance and all who attend will receive a festive gift.
